Say hello to Tubby, my new favourite dog!
Tubby has had a tough start in life. He was rescued from a backyard where he was kept chained up, underfed and ignored. When the shelter brought him in he was matted, skinny and terrified of being touched — he would flinch at any hand near his head.
After weeks of careful feeding, baths and patience, he is finally putting on healthy weight and his coat is shining again. The licking-his-nose photo above? That was the first time he asked for a treat instead of cowering away from food. My heart!
He is still learning that not every person is going to hurt him, but each day he is a little braver. He follows me everywhere now, especially the kitchen.
If you have the room in your home and your heart, please consider adopting a rescue. They have so much love to give once they feel safe. Hope this helps.
